HRH Prince al-Waleed bin Talal announced plans to build the world tallest building in the world located in Jeddah. No doubt a tough expensive engineering feat costing several billions.
For a country where all of its leaders King Khalid, King Fahd, King Abdallah, Prince Sultan, Prince Naif, and other senior members of the Royal family all travelled outside the country for medical treatments. We think investment in the world top medical and reseach center is more important and urgent than building the world tallest building.
Almost all of the Middle East and North African heads of states and most senior political and business exectives travel outside the country for medical check up and treatments, because their countries lack credible medical institutions they have confidence in or trust.
With so many high rise fancy housing and commercial buildings, investing in top of the line medical centers should be the priority. Not all citizens can afford to take private jets to Paris, Geneva, London, New York City, Cleveland or Mayo Clinic for medical treatment.
The Arab world/ MENA region needs in addition to top quality educational institutions it needs credible medical institutions for all citizens including heads of states and the general public, institutions top officials can have confidence in for themselves and for their citizens. Your thoughts!
